Upcycling Festival Gear with CASA BACARDÍ at Outside Lands

We had the incredible opportunity to partner with CASA BACARDÍ this past weekend at Outside Lands.

I hauled my full setup into Golden Gate Park to upcycle and customize festival gear for some truly awesome attendees. It wasn’t easy—especially without a wagon—but somehow everything made it through.

This was also my first time working fully outdoors, in the sun, with irons and customization equipment, which made the experience even more unique. Throughout the weekend, we customized fanny packs, tote bags, sneakers, hats, and more—adding patches, drawing artwork, and transforming existing items into one-of-a-kind pieces.

I was joined by a group of talented local artists who helped with customization and provided amazing customer service throughout the activation. Together, we created a custom menu of designs, including co-branded Hypnotik × BACARDÍ t-shirt graphics—designs many of you already know and love.

Seeing the BACARDÍ logo integrated into my artwork was honestly surreal.

The best part was watching people’s reactions as their upcycled festival gear came to life. Seeing smiles, excitement, and genuine appreciation for the finished pieces made the long days completely worth it.

We’d absolutely love to do something like this again.

Upcycling festival gear and existing materials is powerful—it allows us to repurpose what we already have and turn old items into something completely new. Experiences like this show how sustainability, creativity, and culture can intersect in meaningful ways.

Until next time,
